Cherry wood coffee and side table inspired by the crab. Initially we pulled idea's from Theo Jansen's STRANDBEEST wind sculpture. Inn awe of their animalistic movement and personality, we believed a table perhaps could embody a similar life. Exploring bio-inspiration design, the objective of this table extracts from the anatomy of the crab. Keeping in mind principals of design for disassembly and the recycling process, we utilized lap joints, avoiding the need for nails, screws or other materials that are not cherry.

Applying principals of trigonometry, this coffee table can configure into many different forms as well as separate to create two identical side tables [see below].
