‘Failures: A Didascologue’ was a supplied text from a professor at Concordia University. The objective of this project was to interpret the mood, imagery, language and tone of the text and graphically treat it to represent our interpretation of the text. For the layout of the play, at first we played with a dominant abstract theme through text representation of interacting words and structure. However, it was decided that this was not consistent with the play and thus concluded that the design needed to be simplified. The dialogue showed two different sides of the characters as well as slight abnormalities depicting the skewed reality in which the play lives in. The hierarchy of text, colours and structure was kept simple in the attempt to preserve legibility and easier navigation. The Textured red/orange handmade paper alongside the natural off-white interior paper creates a good balance between the text content and graphics.
